Located in the northern part of Tenerife, with a surface area of 18,36 Km 2, at an altitude of 385 m, it has a population of 8 235 inhabitants. It is 27,7 Km by road from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

To the east it limits with La Matanza de Acentejo, to the west with Santa Ursula, to the south with Candelaria and to the north with its coastline, at the edge of a sharp cliff.
